Fred Hersch on Little Midnight Nocturne:
“This piece is based on the chord progression of “Round Midnight” – I used the image of a clock tower in the fog as my inspiration. It starts gently, then grows in intensity before coming back to the peaceful mood of the opening motif.”

As a pervasively influential creative force he has shaped the music’s course over more than three decades as an improviser, composer, educator, bandleader, collaborator and recording artist.
